Medical Supplies - Details

There is a bit of a ground swell now that the various flotilla solidarity aid drives (with remarkable people!) are arriving in ports of Cuba (mainly it seems la Habana).

Here are some specific asks I have received from others (on the heroic island) for medications. If there are obstacles in acquiring medications here, and they are available in Mexico over-the-counter, I will make use of my single night/day there to gather such meds.

Here we are…

For elders specifically: Fluoxetine & Seroquel (quetiapine). (Almost certainly needed from Mexico only, as they are SSRI’s and can only be bought OTC there).

Further specific asks:

Anti flu/Gripa types of medications (countering fever, headaches, vomiting, etc);

PUFFERS! The cost of salbutamol is very small to us, and they are blockaded in Cuba (think of who you know that has asthma, and imagine taking their puffer away). Many, many of these.

Prednizone // similar steroidal meds To counter chikungunya, the relatively new mosquito borne disease that often sets the immune system into hyperdrive.

Digital thermometers, Oximeters Preferably not set to run out of power easily.

All manner of normal drugs for families and kids:

Vitamin packets (particularly effervescent ones), pain meds from: aspirin/ASA, tylenol/acetaminophen, ibuprofen, paracetamol.

All manner of basic anti-biotics: penicillins (like amoxicillin), cephalosporins (like cefalexin), tetracyclines (like doxycycline), and macrolides (like azithromycin).

Alka-seltzers, Eno-type things and more to help calm a stomach.

Pepto bismol/bismuth for adults and for kids;

The image on this page was sent to me via solidarity groupings in the past. Yellow is highlighted as more needed in general– all listed are needed. There will be others.
